Hot Springs is 1-8 against Cobre since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Hot Springs Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Cobre Indians at 7:00 p.m.
Hot Springs fell victim to Hatch Valley's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Bears at home and fell 48-0. Hot Springs was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Meanwhile, Cobre had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They really took it to Socorro for the full four quarters, racking up a 34-7 win on the road. The result was nothing new for Cobre, who have now won four matches by 22 points or more so far this season.
Cobre's victory bumped their season record to 5-2 while Hot Springs' loss dropped theirs to 3-5.
Hot Springs ended up a good deal behind Cobre in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, losing 31-16. Can Hot Springs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
