The Northside Christian Mustangs won the last time they faced the Indian Rocks Christian Eagles, and things went their way on Friday too. Northside Christian pulled ahead with a 22-21 photo finish over Indian Rocks Christian. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Northside Christian.
Northside Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Blake Van wormer, who threw for 174 yards and a touchdown. Gavin Richardson did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 125 receiving yards.
Despite the defeat, Indian Rocks Christian saw an underclassman step up: Anthony Harris rushed for 59 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 75 receiving yards. Harris' longest reception was for an incredible 75 yards.
Northside Christian's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Indian Rocks Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northside Christian will challenge Zephyrhills Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Zephyrhills Christian Academy will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Indian Rocks Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against LaBelle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
