It was a good run, but the St. Michael the Archangel Warriors unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They were the victim of a rough 56-34 loss at the hands of Richmond Christian.
St. Michael the Archangel's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anjalia Bryant , who scored 22 points. Bryant scored a full 64.7% of St. Michael the Archangel's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Janaye Martinez, who scored six points along with 28 rebounds and five blocks.
Richmond Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kailah Carter out in front who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. The contest was Carter's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Jillian Gravatt was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
St. Michael the Archangel's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Richmond Christian, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Michael the Archangel will challenge Stafford at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Richmond Christian will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Fuqua at 6:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
