The San Tan Foothills Sabercats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. Their rough 67-47 defeat to Florence might stick with them for a while. San Tan Foothills has not had much luck with Florence recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, San Tan Foothills saw an underclassman step up: Cienna Witcher scored eight points along with five rebounds and two steals. Witcher is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Aj Williams was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Florence's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aubrey Farmer led the charge by scoring 21 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. That's the first time this season that Farmer scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keylee Scarbrough, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 20 rebounds.
San Tan Foothills has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Florence, their win bumped their record up to 7-8.
San Tan Foothills will head out on the road to square off against Benjamin Franklin at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Florence, they will be playing at home against Pusch Ridge Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
