Hayden Billie tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Keaunna Green, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Payton Billie was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Evangelical Christian lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Shorecrest Prep owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They skirted past Neumann 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Chargers have posted since April 15th.
Not much got past Samantha Beltran, who gave up just six hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Neumann off the board.
At the plate, Shorecrest Prep secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Madi Bidwell, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Shorecrest Prep is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Evangelical Christian, they pushed their record up to 25-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Evangelical Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .379. However, it's not like Shorecrest Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .339. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Evangelical Christian took their win against Shorecrest Prep in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 16-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sentinels since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
