Southern Nash has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Southern Nash ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They snuck past South Johnston with a 34-28 win.
Meanwhile, Roanoke Rapids scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 59-7 win over KIPP P. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-5.
Roanoke Rapids relied on the efforts of Shaniah Daniels, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, and Kayla Whitfield, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Daniels set a new season high mark in steals with eight. Alexis Bednarczyk was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds.
Southern Nash's record now sits at 2-5. Roanoke Rapids' record now sits at 2-4.
Southern Nash didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Roanoke Rapids in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 53-47 win.
