The Athens Wildcats's game on Saturday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-52 victory over Blue Ridge.
Athens had a senior duo take command as Connor Mosher dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds and Nick Jacob scored 17 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Mosher has scored at least 25% of Athens' points. Another player making a difference was Nick Grazul, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Athens' victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. As for Blue Ridge, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-1.
Athens won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against North Penn-Liberty at 7:30 p.m. on December 13th. Hopefully North Penn-Liberty focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Monday. Blue Ridge is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Wyoming Seminary College Prep at 6:00 p.m. on December 19th.
