Softball Game Preview: False River Gators vs. Port Allen Pelicans

False River has gone a perfect 3-0 against Port Allen recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The False River Gators will challenge the Port Allen Pelicans at 4:00 p.m.

On Friday, False River needed a bit of extra time to put away Port Allen. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pelicans, sneaking past 25-24. The victory continues a trend for the Gators in their matchups with the Pelicans: they've now won three in a row.

For Port Allen's part, Marsha Shirley made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored five runs and stole ten bases while going 6-for-6. Those ten stolen bases gave Shirley a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Courtney Courville, who scored four runs and stole six bases while going 3-for-5.

Even though they lost, Port Allen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .645 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

False River skirted past Port Allen 25-24 when the teams last played on Friday. The rematch might be a little tougher for False River since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
