Baseball Recap: Rayne Has No Trouble Against Lafayette Christian Academy

Rayne lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Lafayette Christian Academy, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's match. The Wolves put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 9-2 victory on Monday. Considering the Wolves have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Lon Paul Moody spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mark Frederick, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Chase Cary was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Rayne has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Lafayette Christian Academy, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-11.

Coming up, Rayne will face off against Catholic - N.I. at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lafayette Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
