Mandeville won the last time they faced Springfield and things went their way on Thursday too. The Skippers rang in the new year with a 50-42 victory over the Bulldogs.

When it comes to explaining why Springfield lost, don't look at Chase Burches. Despite the final result, he shot 43% from the field on his way to 23 points and eight rebounds. Burches' big performance that afternoon made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Jordyn Norman was another key player, putting up six points.

Mandeville's win bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Springfield, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Mandeville will square off against Zachary at 5:30 p.m. on the 9th. Springfield has already played their next game (against Doyle), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
