Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Vero Beach

Vero Beach extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping them up to 3-2. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Treasure Coast Titans. The Indians have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Titans, too.

Taylor Stevens was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Crysaria Joseph, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kylie Williams, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Vero Beach hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Treasure Coast struck out nine times.

As for Treasure Coast, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Treasure Coast's side, Adriana Martinez made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Emma Outlaw also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Looking ahead, Vero Beach will welcome John Carroll Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Treasure Coast, they are taking a road trip to square off against South Fork at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
