The Eureka Tornadoes will be playing at home against the Council Grove Braves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Eureka comes in on a streak of failing to score more than six points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Last Friday, Eureka had to suffer through a rough 42-6 loss at the hands of West Franklin. Eureka was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 21-0.
Meanwhile, Council Grove might've scored the first points on Friday, but it was Marion who claimed the real prize. Council Grove received a tough blow as they fell 32-14 to Marion.
Despite their loss, Council Grove saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Landon Dody, who picked up 91 receiving yards and a touchdown, was perhaps the best of all.
Eureka's loss was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-5. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.67 points per game. As for Council Grove, their loss on Friday dropped their record down to 4-2.
Eureka was taken down by Council Grove 42-6 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Eureka, Ethan Burton (who rushed for 184 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries, and also picked up 67 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
