After a disappointing 9 points in the contest before, Morrilton made sure to put some points up on the board against Greenbrier on Friday. Morrilton put the hurt on Greenbrier with a sharp 37-7 victory. Greenbrier can consider this payback for the 31-38 loss they dealt Morrilton the last time the teams encountered one another.
Morrilton got off to a slow start in their game last week, but they had no such trouble against Greenbrier and cruised to a 21-point first half. Meanwhile, Greenbrier couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 21-0 heading into the break. Morrilton put the match away in the third quarter with 16 points from the offense and zero points allowed from the defense.
Junior Xaviar Clemons, who rushed for 184 yards and 1 touchdown, was a major factor in Morrilton's success. Senior Dylan White was in the mix, too, providing Morrilton with 3 touchdowns. The matchup brought them to 2-3 and dropped Greenbrier to a mirror-image 3-2.
Next week Morrilton take on Alma at 7:00 PM. Alma also lit up the scoreboard in their last contest, so this could be a high-scoring contest. As for Greenbrier, they will face off against Farmington. Both of those teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
