Fairwinds Christian has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Concord Christian Academy Minutemen at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Fairwinds Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Thursday.
Fairwinds Christian pushed their score all the way to 59, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 67-59 to Faith Baptist School. Fairwinds Christian has not had much luck with Faith Baptist School recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jaiden Rajis, who scored 14 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Clary, who scored 13 points.
Fairwinds Christian struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Faith Baptist School racked up 15 assists.
Even though Concord Christian Academy has not done well against Greenwood Mennonite recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Concord Christian Academy walked away with a 51-43 victory over Greenwood Mennonite. The victory was nothing new for Concord Christian Academy as they're now sitting on three straight.
Concord Christian Academy found their leader in underclassman Carlin Hollis - Homeschool, who scored 22 points along with seven steals and five assists. Hollis - Homeschool is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Keavon Bailey - Homeschool, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Fairwinds Christian's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3. As for Concord Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Tuesday's contest is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Fairwinds Christian have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 39.8% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Concord Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've made 43.5% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Fairwinds Christian suffered a grim 66-45 defeat to Concord Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Fairwinds Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
