Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 17 to 7 on the offensive boards, a fact the Rootstown Rovers proved on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 60-39 margin over Beaumont School. With that victory, Rootstown brought their scoring average up to 54.5 points per game.
Rootstown found their leader in underclassman Colbie Curall, who scored 21 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Nadia Lough was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Beaumont School still got an impressive performance from Shannon Shea, who scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenizie Callender, who scored 5 points along with 11 rebounds and 3 blocks.
Rootstown's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Beaumont School, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Rootstown will be playing in front of their home fans against Crestwood at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Beaumont School, they will head out on the road to face off against Hathaway Brown at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
