Turner waltzed into their match on Tuesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Big Foot Chiefs 5-3. Surprisingly, this marked the Trojans' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Olyvia Piranio made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.
Piranio wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Emma Bue, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Turner hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive games.
