Overton is 8-2 against Memphis Central since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Wolverines will host the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Overton sitting on three straight victories and Memphis Central on seven.
If Overton beats Memphis Central with 11 runs on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Wolverines sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-10 win over Bolton on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wolverines have posted since April 18, 2024.

Daiquan Dixon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played.
In other batting news, Sammy Kehrli and Julian Tallent did most of the damage at the plate: Kehrli scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Tallent scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. Tallent has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played. Marquel Brooks was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday Memphis Central sidestepped Middle College for an 11-9 win.
Memphis Central got a big performance out of Joshua Thurmon, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Hollowell, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2.
Memphis Central pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Overton, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3-1.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Overton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .556. However, it's not like Memphis Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .548. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Overton skirted past Memphis Central 12-10 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Wolverines have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
