Volleyball Recap: Chavez Starts Season with Victory Against Summit Charter Collegiate Academy

Chavez had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the Summit Charter Collegiate Academy Bears on Tuesday as they made off with a 3-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Titans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

While Chavez won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-23, 25-21.

Chavez's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mya Garcia, who had 21 assists and three digs. Those 21 assists gave Garcia a new career-high.

Looking ahead, Chavez will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Mira Monte at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Summit Charter Collegiate Academy, they will take on Porterville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
