The Hancock Panthers will head out on the road to square off against Calvary Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hancock is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
Even though Faith Christian Academy scored an imposing 58 points on Thursday, Hancock still came out on top. In a tight game that could have gone either way, Hancock made off with a 59-58 victory over Faith Christian Academy. The win was just what Hancock needed coming off of a 70-43 loss in their prior matchup.
Hancock got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aiden McCarty out in front who scored 17 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Anderson, who scored 17 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Calvary Christian Academy was beaten by Heritage Academy 65-27 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Calvary Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 256th, while Heritage Academy is ranked 53rd).
Hancock's win bumped their record up to 4-14. As for Calvary Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.
Hancock couldn't quite finish off Calvary Christian Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2023 and fell 61-59. Can Hancock avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
