The Memorial Red Devils will square off against the Newton Falls Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Newton Falls will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Memorial extended their winning streak to four on Monday. The Red Devils put the hurt on Aquinas with a sharp 12-2 victory.
Ramani Adams was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Memorial let Melianys Colon-Rodriguez and Gianna Tovarnak run wild. Colon-Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Tovarnak went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Tovarnak a new career-high.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Newton Falls). They were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over Liberty on Monday. The Tigers not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 30th (when they won 13-0).
Like Memorial, Newton Falls also got a great game from a two-way player: Kylee Lance. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Lance was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Ashlynn Lance was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Madison Davis, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Newton Falls always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .806. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Memorial's record now sits at 7-14. As for Newton Falls, their record is now 5-13.
Memorial couldn't quite get it done against Newton Falls in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 14-11. Can the Red Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
