The South Pointe Griffins will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Bella Vista College Preparatory School Bears at 6:15 p.m. South Pointe will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
South Pointe scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They strolled past Heritage Academy with points to spare, taking the game 88-69. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
South Pointe got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Prince Sohn out in front who shot 4-for-8 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten assists. Sohn is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Omar Tolbert, who shot 5-for-9 from long range and dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds.
Bella Vista College Preparatory School posted their biggest victory since November 18, 2023 on Friday. They put the hurt on ASU Prep with a sharp 89-68 win. Given Bella Vista College Preparatory School's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 58th, while ASU Prep is ranked 211th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
South Pointe's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.0 points per game. As for Bella Vista College Preparatory School, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-6.
Everything came up roses for South Pointe against Bella Vista College Preparatory School when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 70-30 victory. With South Pointe ahead 40-11 at the half, the match was all but over already.
