On Friday, The Central Knights faced the North Kingstown Skippers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Central fell just short of North Kingstown by a score of 10-7. Central has struggled against North Kingstown recently, as their match on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Kingstown to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brayden Rogers, who threw for 191 yards and a touchdown while completing 72.2% of his passes. North Kingstown also got help from Trent Sterner who showed off his sure hands for 97 receiving yards.
Central's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely North Kingstown, Bishop Hendricken, and Woonsocket. As for North Kingstown, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
After each having a week off, Central and Bishop Hendricken will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another. Bishop Hendricken is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games. North Kingstown will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on La Salle Academy on November 10th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Rhode Island (La Salle Academy is ranked fourth, while North Kingstown is ranked fifth).
