After both having extra time off, the Cedar Valley Aviators and the Timpanogos Timberwolves will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Last Thursday, Cedar Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Spanish Fork and fell 3-2. The Aviators have struggled against the Dons recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Cedar Valley started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 22-25, 22-25, 25-21, 25-19, 15-10.
Timpanogos needed a changed in momentum after dropping five straight games and they got it from Chance Wallace. The Timberwolves walked away with a 3-1 win over Payson last Thursday for which the team can thank Wallace, who had 27 digs and one assist. He has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more digs the last three times he's played.
Timpanogos walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the first set). The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-18, 23-25, 25-22.
Cedar Valley now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Timpanogos, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-6.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's game: Cedar Valley has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 5.6 aces per game. However, it's not like Timpanogos struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.4 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
