While the Gig Harbor Tides couldn't quite beat the Peninsula Seahawks on Thursday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 30-point defeat they were dealt last Tuesday. Gig Harbor fell just short of the Seahawks by a score of 36-33. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Gig Harbor has scored all season.
Gig Harbor lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alex Ferrier, who scored eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaliyah Miller, who scored nine points.
Grace Richardson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Peninsula, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Richardson has scored at least a third of Peninsula's points. Another player making a difference was Maci Miller, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Gig Harbor's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Peninsula, their victory bumped their record up to 11-7.
Gig Harbor will be playing in front of their home fans against the Seahawks at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Peninsula focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Thursday.
