The Carrollwood Day Patriots lost against the Tampa Prep Terrapins back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Carrollwood Day took a 62-44 bruising from Tampa Prep. While losing is never fun, Carrollwood Day can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 312th, while Tampa Prep is ranked 120th).
Carrollwood Day lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Leighann Hanley, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Gianna Miller, who scored six points along with 13 rebounds.
Carrollwood Day's loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-7. As for Tampa Prep, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carrollwood Day and Excel Christian Academy will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Tampa Prep, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Winthrop College Prep Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. That game will pit two of the most dominant against one another: JoLesa Birkhead and Gabby Bush.
