After a string of four wins, the Paxton Tigers's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 63-53 to Dundy County-Stratton. Paxton has struggled against Dundy County-Stratton recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Paxton still got an impressive performance from Josh Eakins, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds. Eakins' trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddex McConnell, who scored eight points.
Paxton struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Dundy County-Stratton pulled down 14 offensive rebounds.
It was another big night for Jackson Kerchal, who scored 33 points along with eight rebounds and four steals for Dundy County-Stratton. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kerchal has scored all season. August Shaw was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Paxton's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Dundy County-Stratton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Paxton will square off against South Platte at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Dundy County-Stratton's road trip will continue as they head out to face Southwest on January 30th. Southwest will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while Dundy County-Stratton is ranked 75th).
