The Purvis Tornadoes will head out on the road to challenge the Lamar Christian Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, Purvis made off with a 46-45 win over Sumrall.
Purvis' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lillee Crider, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 17 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Crider has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Breleigh Adkins, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Lamar Christian entered their tilt with Newton County Academy with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Lamar Christian took down Newton County Academy 28-14 last Friday.
Purvis' victory bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Lamar Christian, they pushed their record up to 14-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Purvis couldn't quite finish off Lamar Christian when the teams last played back in December of 2023 and fell 50-47. Can Purvis avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
