The Overton Eagles had already won 12 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.9 points), and they went ahead and made it 13 on Friday. They came out on top against Elm Creek by a score of 56-44. That's another feather in the cap for Overton, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Jolee Ryan was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Wood, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds.
Elm Creek lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ashley Bauer, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kendal Cavenee, who scored 17 points.
Overton pushed their record up to 17-1 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Elm Creek, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-4.
Overton will take on Ansley/Litchfield at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Ansley/Litchfield has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 14. As for Elm Creek, they will take on Pleasanton at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Pleasanton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
