Chauncey Goodman and Cedric Clanton provided fans with a highlight when they connected against East Rankin Academy. The longest such play in MAIS AA District 2 this season, the connection resulted in 80 yards.
Leake Academy led the league in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on Oak Hill Academy.
Canton Academy's dynamic duo of Goodman and Clanton proved tough for the Patriots to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Goodman threw for 80 yards and one touchdown and Clanton had 80 yards receiving. Trey Jackson helped Canton Academy's passing attack out by catching three balls for 44 yards.
Zach Taylor was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 121 yards on 28 carries as Winston Academy fell to East Rankin Academy.
Zach Warren made the biggest impact on defense this week as Canton Academy fell to the Patriots. The senior racked up one sack.
Winston Academy's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Patriots feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Logan Webb has thrown for 436 yards and two touchdowns this season, while Orien Dailey has 12 catches for 179 yards. Taylor leads the league in rushing with 661 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Manchester Academy takes on the Rebels. As it stands, the Mavericks are in fifth, while Leake Academy is in second.
