Effingham County came into Saturday's matchup having lost ten straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on Evans with a sharp 58-37 victory on Saturday. The victory was just what Effingham County needed coming off of a 61-28 defeat in their prior matchup.
It was another big night for Kyjana Jordan, who scored 40 points along with three steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Effingham County's points. Taniya Proctor was another key contributor, scoring five points along with 21 rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Lakeside entered their tilt with the Mustangs with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Lakeside walked away with a 55-44 victory over the Mustangs on Saturday. Given Lakeside's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the Mustangs are ranked 284th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Effingham County's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-17. As for Lakeside, their victory bumped their record up to 19-5.
