The Seaside Spartans lost against the Marina Mariners back in November of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Seaside was beaten by Marina 75-47. While losing is never fun, Seaside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 727th, while Marina is ranked 359th).
Marina had a senior duo take command as Julius Robinson scored 26 points and Jordan Bonnard Webb scored 23 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Bonnard Webb has scored at least 25% of Marina's points. Another player making a difference was Khalik Kennedy, who scored 15 points.
Seaside has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Marina, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Seaside will square off against Stevenson at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Marina, they will head out on the road to face off against Watsonville at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
