The Borah Lions will venture away from home to take on the Mountain View Mavericks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Borah has given up an average of 9.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Kuna hit Borah with a four-run fourth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Lions might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 11-1 to the Kavemen, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Lions have suffered against the Kavemen since April 27, 2021.
Borah saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Hartman, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Mountain View entered their tilt with Boise on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Brave with a sharp 16-2 victory. Considering the Mavericks have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Easton Pierce looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ryder Hollifield was a standout: he went 2-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Chris Maiocca was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Mountain View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Boise only posted an OBP of .296.
Mountain View's record now sits at 13-2. As for Borah, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.
Borah might still be hurting after the 7-1 loss they got from Mountain View in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
