Southwest hasn't had much luck against Galena recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Trojans will challenge the Bears at 6:30 p.m.
Southwest came up short against McDonald County on Tuesday, falling 3-0.
Southwest was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-23, 25-14.

Despite the loss, Southwest had strong showings from Olivia Hnem, who had 16 digs and two aces, and Abi Hnem, who had ten digs and eight assists. Olivia is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 13 or more in each of the last three games she's played.
Meanwhile, Galena waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Bears not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since September 22nd (when they won 3-0).
Galena found their leader in freshman Addison Williams, who had five aces and four digs.
They weren't the only good servers: Galena was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in five consecutive contests.
Southwest's defeat dropped their record down to 11-17-3. As for Galena, their win bumped their record up to 17-10-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's matchup: Southwest has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.3 aces per game. However, it's not like Galena struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.1 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Southwest couldn't quite get it done against Galena when the teams last played back in September as they fell 2-0. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
