Basketball Recap: North Mesquite Piles Up the Points Against Spruce

North Mesquite won the last time they faced Spruce and things went their way on Tuesday too. The North Mesquite Stallions blew past the Spruce Timberwolves 57-24. The Stallions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matches by 21 points or more this season.

Leading North Mesquite to victory were Syniyah Grigsby and Taniya Epps. Grigsby dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Epps went 7 of 11 on her way to 15 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. The contest was Grigsby's third in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Haven Crabb, who posted 12 points and three steals.

North Mesquite smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2024.

North Mesquite has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a massive bump to their 17-15 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points over those games. As for Spruce, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-20 record this season.

Coming up, North Mesquite will challenge Sunset at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Spruce does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
