Basketball Recap: Lakeland Skates Past Bethany Christian with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakeland). They claimed a resounding 58-21 victory over the Bethany Christian Bruins. The Lakers pushed the score to 43-19 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bruins had little chance of recovering from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lakeland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dulce Canedo, who went 6 of 9 en route to 17 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoey Bowman, who posted 13 points in addition to seven assists and seven boards.

Lakeland was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bethany Christian only racked up six assists.

Despite the defeat, Bethany Christian saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kayli Rassi put up nine points.

Lakeland moved to 3-7 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Bethany Christian, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Lakeland and Westview will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: Lakeland has lost four straight at home , while Westview has lost four on the road. Bethany Christian will take on Wawasee in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
