Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Oak Park-River Forest

Oak Park-River Forest never let their opponents score on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over the Proviso West Panthers. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 games by six runs or more this season.

Gabriella Chesney made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Arielle Spurlock looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Oak Park-River Forest got a massive performance out of Charlie Terry, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Gloria Hronek was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.

Oak Park-River Forest kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. They are 17-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win (which was Oak Park-River Forest's third in a row) raised their record to 23-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Proviso West, they are on a 25-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oak Park-River Forest will face off against Marist at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The RedHawks' pitching crew has only allowed 1.5 runs per game this season, so the Huskies' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Proviso West, they will take on Hinsdale Central at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
