Devin Elder was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Elder was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jack Willard, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Colin Feger also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bullitt Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against DeSales by a score of 10-6 on Wednesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Cougars needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Cole Halbrook and Taylor Coffman did most of the damage at the plate: Halbrook went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double, while Coffman went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Coffman has become a key player for Bullitt Central: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Mason Burton, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Bullitt Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Bullitt East pushed their record up to 14-3-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Bullitt Central, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.
Everything went Bullitt East's way against Bullitt Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Bullitt East made off with a 20-5 win. Do the Chargers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
