There's no place like home for the Cass Colonels, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They skirted past Calhoun 60-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Cass' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jakai Baldwin, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine assists. It was the first time this season that Baldwin posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Parnel Gamble, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Several Yellow Jackets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emaree Winston, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Winston has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 12 times he's played. Landon Chattam was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Cass' win bumped their record up to 6-12. As for Calhoun, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cass will take on the Catamounts at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Dalton will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Calhoun, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hiram has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 356 points over their last five games.
