The Sammamish RedHawks pushed their score all the way to 60 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 81-60 walloping at the hands of Federal Way. While losing is never fun, Sammamish can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while Federal Way is ranked 47th).
Sammamish's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Rakin Showki, who scored 20 points, and Keith Kariuki who scored 16 points. The matchup was Kariuki's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Anthony Boddie was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Sammamish bumped their record down to 6-4 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Federal Way, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sammamish and Yelm will face off at 3:45 p.m. on December 28, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Yelm has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Federal Way and Silas will face off at 9:00 p.m. on December 28, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Silas' favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
