Camp Hill has gone 9-1 against Middletown recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Blue Raiders at 11:00 a.m. Camp Hill is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Thursday just wasn't the day for Camp Hill's offense. They fell just short of East Pennsboro by a score of 2-0 on Thursday. The Lions' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Camp Hill saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Doi, who went 1-for-2 with one triple. That triple was Doi's first of the season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Middletown ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Susquehanna Township 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Blue Raiders have posted since April 11, 2024.
Brayden Reigle looked comfortable as he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on J.P. Horetsky, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Michael Swartz was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Middletown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Susquehanna Township only managed two hits.
Camp Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Middletown, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Camp Hill has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Middletown struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Camp Hill's way against Middletown in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Camp Hill made off with a 9-1 win. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Blue Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
