The Burges Mustangs can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They managed a 58-53 victory over Bel Air. This was payback for Burges, who suffered a 43-40 loss the last time these two teams met.
Bel Air's loss came despite strong showings from Alec Carrillo and Marcos Garcia. Carrillo scored 11 points along with eight rebounds, while Garcia scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Travis Monroy, who scored six points.
Burges' victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-9. As for Bel Air, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.
Burges will head out on the road to face off against Hanks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Israel Gonzalez and Anthony Rubio. Bel Air will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Canutillo at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Canutillo will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
