The Seneca Valley Raiders will venture away from home to take on the Pine-Richland Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Pine-Richland will be up against a hot Seneca Valley team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. Everything went Seneca Valley's way against Woodland Hills on Monday as Seneca Valley made off with a 17-1 victory. The Raiders' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Abby Kalkowski was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Kalkowski was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Maci Milosicevic was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. Liv Herrem was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Seneca Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .680. The last time their OBP was this high was since the start of last season.
Meanwhile, Pine-Richland got the win against Butler on Monday by a conclusive 16-3. The Rams have beaten the Golden Tornado the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Golden Tornado has come to flipping the script.
Seneca Valley's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Pine-Richland, their record now sits at 2-0.
Everything went Seneca Valley's way against Pine-Richland when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Seneca Valley made off with a 22-3 win. Does Seneca Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pine-Richland turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
