Otis has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Lone Star Longhorns at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Otis knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven contests -- so hopefully the Longhorns like a good challenge.
Otis pushed their score all the way to 66 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 70-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Arickaree.
Otis' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Charlie Kendrick, who scored 24 points along with three steals, and Sawyer Packer who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Packer is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Grady Bechtle was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Lone Star's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were outmatched by Belleview Christian on the road and fell 77-35. Lone Star was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-22.
Otis' defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-5. As for Lone Star, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-10.
Otis took their win against the Longhorns in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 70-44. Will Otis repeat their success, or do the Longhorns have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
