Basketball Recap: St. Petersburg Catholic Piles Up the Points Against Out-Of-Door Academy

With a playoff win on the line, St. Petersburg Catholic rose to the challenge on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 50-22 victory over the Out-of-Door Academy Thunder. The Barons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 21 points or more this season.

St. Petersburg Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Naomi Denmark, who went 7 of 17 en route to 14 points along with seven boards and four steals. That's the most steals Denmark has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinsley Spoor, who had eight points in addition to eight rebounds and five blocks.

St. Petersburg Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Despite the loss, Out-of-Door Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Gaby Bichanich earned ten points.

St. Petersburg Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season. As for Out-of-Door Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-14.

Looking ahead, St. Petersburg Catholic is taking a road trip to challenge Bradenton Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Out-of-Door Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
