In front of a packed house crowd of passionate Timberwolf fans, attending the evening's festivities to cheer on their basketball teams and celebrate Blue Valley Southwest boys soccer, MaxPreps and the Kansas Army National Guard were on hand to present the Army National Guard national ranking trophy to head coach Erik Jones and the Timberwolves.
As halftime of the boys game arrived, state champion soccer players poured out of the stands and onto the basketball court to the cheers of Timberwolves Faithful. MaxPreps representative Miles Clifton kicked off the presentation by talking briefly about the outstanding accomplishments of Timberwolves boys soccer, pausing at times to allow the crowd to quiet after they celebrated the accomplishments one more time.
Clifton then explained MaxPreps' National Rankings and how they are used to determine the Tour of Champions before introducing Staff Sergeant Jeffrey Masterson of the Kansas Army National Guard. SSG Masterson congratulated Jones and the Timberwolves on an outstanding and historic soccer season and presented them with the prestigious Army National Guard national ranking trophy that is shaped in the likeness of a ‘Minuteman.'
Jones took the microphone and thanked the Kansas Army National Guard and SSG Masterson for bestowing the award on them before he talked about the incredible season and thanked Timberwolf fans for their support. As Jones concluded, the Timberwolves hoisted the impressive trophy into the air as Timberwolf Nation roared with applause in honor of the boys soccer team one more time.
Blue Valley Southwest athletic director Mike Rasmussen, the Timberwolves and their coaches were thrilled to be honored by MaxPreps and the Kansas Army National Guard on the national stage. It was truly a memorable night for all of those who are proud to be called Blue Valley Southwest Timberwolves.
