The Woodford County Yellowjackets will square off against the Lafayette Generals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Woodford County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Woodford County fell victim to Lexington Catholic and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of 2-0. The Yellowjackets haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Meanwhile, Lafayette got the win against Tates Creek on Thursday by a conclusive 9-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Generals.
Rylan Music made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Music was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, Addison Combs was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Mckenzie Harney, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Lafayette was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tates Creek only posted a batting average of .231.
Lafayette's win bumped their record up to 17-7. As for Woodford County, their loss dropped their record down to 14-11-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Woodford County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lafayette struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
