On Tuesday, Cedar Valley earned a 57-45 victory over Maple Mountain.
Cedar Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Presley Whiting out in front who scored 20 points along with four blocks. That's the first time this season that Whiting scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Ellie Larson, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Several Golden Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rachel Messick, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Shay Brown, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Cedar Valley is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Maple Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-3.
Cedar Valley will be playing at home against Wasatch at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Wasatch is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.2 points per game. As for Maple Mountain, they will head out on the road to take on Manti at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Manti focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Thursday.
