The Azle Christian Fighting Crusaders waltzed into their contest Tuesday with four straight wins but they left with five. They strolled past Victory Baptist Academy with points to spare, taking the game 64-46. For Azle Christian, this counts as revenge for the 48-31 loss Victory Baptist Academy walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Victory Baptist Academy had strong showings from Brock Hestand, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and four steals, and Isaac Johnson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 15 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Vinnie Catuto, who scored three points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Victory Baptist Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Azle Christian pushed their record up to 14-9 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Victory Baptist Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Azle Christian will take on Stephenville FAITH at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Victory Baptist Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Waxahachie Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Waxahachie Prep is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
