Nimitz is 9-0-1 against Dekaney since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Nimitz Cougars will head out on the road to challenge the Dekaney Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Nimitz is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
Monday just wasn't the day for Nimitz's offense. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 5-0 walloping at the hands of Spring on Monday. Nimitz has not had much luck with Spring recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Meanwhile, Dekaney also failed to score in their most recent game. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of MacArthur on Monday. While losing is never fun, Dekaney can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 563rd, while MacArthur is ranked 228th).
Nimitz's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-7-2. As for Dekaney, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4-4.
Nimitz took their win against Dekaney in their previous meeting back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 12-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Nimitz since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
