The Box Elder Bees scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. Everything went their way against Bonneville as Box Elder made off with a 81-58 win. Given Box Elder's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Bonneville is ranked 102nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Box Elder's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ashlyn Wight led the charge by scoring 24 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wight has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaydence Barber, who scored 12 points along with six steals.
Despite the loss, Bonneville still got an impressive performance from Sidnee Geerdes, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Baya Jimenez, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Box Elder pushed their record up to 16-5 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.2 points per game. As for Bonneville, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-17.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Box Elder will challenge Clearfield at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Clearfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday. As for Bonneville, they will head out on the road to take on Viewmont at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Bonneville is facing Viewmont at the right time seeing as Viewmont is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
